After one year, Phase 2 will be implemented and the scheme will be enforced every other Sunday of the month.
The road closure covered Tomas Morato Avenue from Timog Avenue to Don Alejandro Roces Avenue while traffic rerouting was also implemented.
Based on Ordinance No. SP - 3345, S-2024, a portion of Tomas Morato Avenue will be closed to traffic to give way to pedestrians, joggers, and cyclists. It aims to foster an active lifestyle, reduce vehicular emissions, and create a cleaner and greener environment.
“'Car-Free Sundays' reflects our vision of a sustainable, people-first Quezon City. We want to encourage outdoor activities, promote healthy living, and support our commitment to environmental sustainability,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
