Government anti-narcotics agents seized more than P72 million worth of shabu in an operation conducted at the Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Monday, Jan. 6, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
In a statement, the NAIA Inter-Agency Interdiction Task Group (IADITG) team said that the shabu, weighing around 10.706 kilograms, was concealed in an abandoned luggage that was uncovered at 12 noon at the Customs Exclusion Room of the International Arrival Area.
Based on the tag, the PDEA noted that the abandoned luggage came from Johannesburg, South Africa with a connecting flight bound for Manila.
PDEA Regional Office National Capital Region Director Emerson R. Rosales said investigation is ongoing to identify all the persons responsible for the discovered shabu.
Rosales noted that the seized contraband will be turned over to the PDEA Laboratory Service.
