Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto proudly shared one of his most prized possessions on social media on Sunday, Jan. 7.
On his Thread post, Sotto posted a photo of his book titled "The Great Leaders and National Treasures of 1912: The Policies and Principles of all Parties Discussed" published by L.T Myers in 1912 which he bought for $15 in an antique shop abroad.
"Nakakamangha yung lalim ng talakayan/diskurso nila. Mula sa mga kwalipikasyon ng mga kandidato hanggang sa isyu ng taripa. 113 years ago (The depth of discussion written in this book starting from the necessary qualifications of candidates up to the issues on tariffs 113 years ago is very amazing and eye-opening)," the mayor said.
Sotto, who was first elected as the city's mayor in 2019, spearheaded numerous campaigns and initiatives specifically aimed at curbing corruption within the city government.
This, together with other accomplishments focused on improving the lives of Pasigueños through enhanced city social services, earned Sotto a spot in the United States Department of State's list of 12 International Anticorruption Champions in 2021.
He was also recognized by numerous national agencies for his reforms both inside and outside of the city government that ushered in a new breed of governance and leadership in one of the National Capital Region's (NCR) key cities.
