The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has vowed to ensure the equitable and compliant distribution of financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries under the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).
DOLE Undersecretary Benjo Benavidez said the agency, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), will identify workers whose incomes fall below the minimum wage, including minimum wage earners.
Beneficiaries must submit an Income Tax Return (ITR) filed with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), while those earning less than the minimum wage must provide a certification from their employer confirming their income status.
Benavidez emphasized DOLE’s critical role in ensuring accountability and transparency in the distribution of aid, which remains subject to oversight by the Commission on Audit (COA).
He recalled instances during the pandemic when ineligible recipients, including duplicate beneficiaries, were required to return the aid, reinforcing the agency's commitment to safeguarding the proper use of public funds.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reiterated that the implementation of AKAP is guided by policies from DOLE, DSWD, and NEDA, ensuring the fair and efficient distribution of assistance.
