BOYNEXTDOOR drops 1st digital single ‘If I Say, I Love You’

K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR, composed of Sungho, Riwoo, Jaehyun, Taesan, Leehan and Woonhak, made their comeback with the release of their first digital single “If I Say, I Love You" on Jan. 6

Their return to the music scene comes on the heels of their million-selling third mini-album “19.99,” released in September 2024, and the sold-out opening shows of their “Knock On Vol. 1” tour, which started in Incheon last December.

They said the single was a way to give back to their fans and listeners.

"We drew a lot of strength from the love and support we received from our fans Onedoor. With the desire to return that love, each one of us contributed ideas to bring this song to life. We’re currently on our first ever tour, and we knew there were many fans who couldn’t attend our shows even though they wanted to. That’s how this comeback came to be. We hope Onedoor enjoy this new song as a special gift," said BOYNEXTDOOR.

They showed their self-producing skills with “If I Say, I Love You,” an upbeat dance track that incorporates the creative ideas and personal touches of all six members, with Taesan and Woonhak contributing to the songwriting process.

The song contrasts self-deprecating and almost pitiful lyrics with an energetic band-driven melody, capturing the raw aftermath of a breakup.

Woonhak, the youngest member of BOYNEXTDOOR, said, “The beauty of this track lies in its naturally flowing structure. I hope listeners can really feel that flow. As a breakup song from the perspective of a younger generation, every part stands out with its own unique charm.”

The music video for “If I Say, I Love You” stands out from BOYNEXTDOOR's previous works with its narrative structure resembling a short film.

It shows a young boy so deeply affected by the failure of his confession that he splits into six different personalities. Each member of the group portrays each personality, dealing with the emotional aftermath of rejection.

Taesan chases after someone during a snowball fight, while Jaehyun tackles long-overdue laundry outside.

Woonhak finds solace while playing with bubbles, and Leehan does the same with balloons. Riwoo reflects on past moments in the bathtub, and Sungho jams out on his guitar.

As they go through their daily lives, the members are continuously reminded of the happy moments from their past, struggling to overcome the emotional weight of a breakup. Their striking visuals combined with the cold yet refreshing winter atmosphere create a captivating viewing experience.

"This single began with the question, ‘What if we experienced a breakup?’ After the confidence and bold moves we showcased in our previous EP 19.99, we wanted to bring a fresh new narrative with this track. We hope anyone who has experienced something similar will be able to deeply relate and feel as though the song is telling their own story," the idol group added.

“If I Say, I Love You” is now available on all streaming platforms worldwide.
