Officials of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and Manila Police District (MPD) led the conduct of the final walk-through for the procession route of Traslacion 2025, on Sunday morning, Jan. 5, ensuring safety measures are in place for the millions of devotees who will participate in the traditional event.
NCRPO Chief Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, and MPD Director Police Brigadier Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay started the walk-through began at 6 a.m. at the Quirino Grandstand and continued all the way to Quiapo Church.
Police authorities emphasized that as devotees will be walking barefoot during the Traslacion, and the streets must be clear of any obstacles that could cause injury.
They said all overhanging wires that could potentially get caught in the float carrying the revered image of the Jesus Nazarene will be removed.
Chief Ibay said these efforts are aimed at ensuring the safety and smooth flow of the procession on Jan. 9, where over six million of devotees are expected to join the historic event.
During the walk-through, the police took photos of potential hazards and planned to send them to relevant authorities such as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Manila city government for immediate action.
The route for this year’s Traslacion, which follows the traditional path, was initially announced during the first walk-through conducted on Dec. 27.
The procession will begin at the Quirino Grandstand, passing through key streets such as Katigbak Drive, Padre Burgos Street, Ayala Bridge, Quezon Boulevard, and various other streets in Manila before reaching Quiapo Church.

Meanwhile, the first Sunday Mass of the year also saw a large turnout of devotees at the Quiapo Church.
MPD said deployed hundreds of police were deployed in the area to monitor the week-long activities for the Feast Day of Jesus Nazareno.
