The local government of Manila highlighted the city’s remarkable growth, marking a new era of progress and development that sets it apart as one of the most dynamic urban centers in the Philippines, during the Manila City Hall's first meeting.
In a statement released on Sunday, January 5, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said the city’s focus is on strengthening governance, driving economic growth, and enhancing its competitiveness as it enters 2025.
While Manila honors its rich history, it looks forward with a clear vision for progress.
The city is evolving, constantly improving to meet the needs of its people.
In 2024, Manila achieved a significant milestone by receiving its first-ever Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) and maintained its strong position, ranking second among the country’s highly urbanized cities.
The city’s revenue for 2023 reached P21.28 billion, surpassing even Makati, with a surplus of over P3 billion. This solid financial performance sets the stage for even greater success in 2025.
The mayor said the city’s goal for 2025 is clear, which is to become the most progressive city in the Philippines.
She said her administration is determined to lay the groundwork to rank first in revenues and surplus, aiming to become the richest and most progressive city in the country.
