Lightning strike kills woman in farm

BACOLOD CITY – A 57-year-old woman was killed by a lightning strike during a thunderstorm in Barangay Don Salvador Benedicto, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Police Capt. Darryl Kuhutan, Pontevedra police chief, identified the victim as Trinidad Baliguat of Barangay Don Salvador Benedicto.

Kuhutan said the victim was working in a sugarcane field when she was struck by lightning. Her body was found by her companions after one hour.

The victim was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead. The incident was reported by her niece to the police.
