Applications open for 2025 Japanese government scholarships in Japanese studies and teacher training

The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines is now accepting applications for the Japanese Studies and Teacher Training categories of the 2025 Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship.

Applicants must be Filipino citizens and meet specific qualifications. For the Japanese Studies category, applicants must be under 30 years old by April 2, 2025. They should be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Japanese language or Japanese culture and must have completed at least one year of study in the field by Sept. 1, 2025. 

For the Teacher Training category, applicants must be under 35 years old by April 2, 2025. They must have at least five years of teaching experience in elementary or secondary education as of Oct. 1, 2025, and must be currently employed as teachers in an elementary or secondary school.

Application forms and additional details can be downloaded from the Embassy’s website. The deadline for submission of applications is Feb. 14, 2025. Only physical documents sent via courier or hand-delivered to the Embassy will be accepted.
