Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares has warned citizens against using fake persons with disabilities (PWD) IDs after individuals were allegedly caught presenting falsified documents at a local mall to claim benefits intended for PWDs.
On Sunday, Jan. 5, Ynares said that the management of Robinson’s Place had recently identified three members of a family from Barangay Dalig—consisting of the mother, father, and their child, who were using fake PWD IDs, with even the signature of former City Mayor Andrea “Andeng” Ynares being forged.
“Spotted po ng Robinson's Place Management ang mga diumano'y gumagamit ng fake PWD IDs para makapag-avail ng benefits na nakalaan para sa ating mga kapatid na may kapansanan. Pati pirma ni Andeng, pineke rin. Tsk tsk! (The management of Robinson's Place recently identified individuals allegedly using fake PWD IDs to avail themselves of benefits intended for persons with disabilities. Even the signature of former Mayor Andeng was forged),” the mayor said.
He added that the three individuals were not listed in their official database, and other irregularities were also found in the fake IDs.
“Sinampahan na ng kaso ang mga gumamit ng diumano'y pekeng PWD IDs base sa reklamo ng Robinson's Place bilang paglabag sa Article 172 ng Revised Penal Code dahil sa falsification and/or use of falsified public documents (Those found using the alleged fake IDs have been charged under Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code for falsification and/or use of falsified public documents, following a formal complaint from Robinson's Place),” Ynares continued.
The mayor stated that this should serve as a warning to anyone using or planning to use counterfeit IDs.
He also reminded his citizens that only the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) issue valid Senior Citizen and PWD IDs, which offices are located at the GAD Building near Sumulong Park and the Government Center at SM Cherry/Downtown Antipolo.
Ynares also urged the public with information about fake ID holders to report them immediately at 8689-4565 or through the CSWD Official Facebook Page.
