The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said 4,070 families or 13,246 individuals are still sheltered in evacuation centers due to the ongoing magmatic unrest at Kanlaon Volcano.
Based on the data from the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center, as of Monday, Jan. 6, 34 evacuation centers remain operational.
In addition, 2,351 families, or 7,458 people, have sought temporary shelter with friends or relatives outside the evacuation centers.
The DSWD said the volcanic unrest has affected 12,226 families or 46,787 individuals across 26 barangays in Western and Central Visayas.
To date, the DSWD, local government units, and other partners have provided P70.19 million in humanitarian aid to affected families.
The DSWD also has P2.24 billion in resources, including P50.3 million in standby funds and P2.19 billion in food and non-food items ready for distribution.
