US Embassy operations in Manila suspended on Jan. 9

The United States Embassy in Manila has announced that it will have no operations on Jan. 9.

In an advisory, the embassy said that the suspension of its consular operations will be in line with President Joe Biden's announcement of closure of the executive department of agencies as a mark of respect for James Earl Carter, Jr., the 39th President of the United States.

Hence, "all visa interviews and American Citizens Services (ACS) appointments at the U.S. Embassy on January 9 are canceled and will need to be rescheduled," it said.

"The offsite Visa Application Center will remain open on January 9 for applicants who are scheduled for photo and fingerprint collection," it added.

The embassy advised those who have already made their appointments to check their registered email for rescheduling instructions.

"You may contact the Consular Section directly at https://ph.usembassy.gov/consular/ if you have any questions or concerns regarding your new schedule," it added.
