For Vice Ganda, Robredo was a ‘breadwinner’ like in his movie

Phenomenal star Vice Ganda, whose movie “And The Breadwinner Is” currently sits at the top of the Metro Manila Film Festival box office, likened his character to former vice president Leni Robredo, saying the former official was an unappreciated “breadwinner” herself.

The ex-vice president spent her Thursday night, Jan. 2, with the movie star and television host watching his MMFF entry this year.

Vice, who endorsed Robredo’s candidacy for the presidency in 2022 and is a vocal supporter of her Angat Buhay programs, thanked the former vice president for finding time to watch his movie.

“Si Madam Leni, minsan din siyang naging breadwinner nating lahat. Ikaw yung breadwinner. Ang tingin ko sayo, ikaw din si Bambi (Madam Leni was once a breadwinner for us. You are the breadwinner. You are just like Bambi),” he said, referring to his character’s name.

“Katulad ka rin ni Bambi, isa ka ring breadwinner na parang hindi rin napahalagahan ng lahat (Just like Bambi, you are a breadwinner who everyone didn’t appreciate),” he added.

Vice, who’s been doing the rounds of visiting theaters and moviegoers, took time to accompany Robredo in watching his film.

“Mahal na mahal ko kasi si Madam Leni tsaka naniniwala ako sa lahat ng mga adbokasiya niya, sa lahat ng plano niya at ng Angat Buhay, buong puso ko siyang pinagkakatiwalaan (I love Madam Leni so much and I believe in all her advocacies, in all her plans and Angat Buhay, I trust her wholeheartedly),” he said in an ABS-CBN interview.

For the former official, showing her support for Vice is a way to give back for all the help he has given.

On a Facebook post on Friday, Jan. 3, Robredo shared about her experience watching the movie with the actor seated beside her.

“Thank you for the invitation to join you tonight, Vice Ganda!! It was surreal to be seated beside you while watching you on the big screen,” she wrote.

“What a powerful performance!!! And what an emotional tribute to all the breadwinners who toil everyday to give their families better lives,” she added.

The former official then invited everyone to watch not only Vice’s movie, but all the MMFF entries this year.
