CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – A 52-year-old man was killed and 10 vehicles were damaged in a hit-and-run incident here on Friday night, Jan. 31.

Police Col. Ferdinand Germino, Nueva Ecija police chief, said a pickup truck driven by a 45-year-old man sideswiped the victim’s motorcycle with a sidecar and collided with nine others.
The driver attempted to flee but was pursued by lawmen. He was flagged down in a Commission on Elections checkpoint on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Sumacab Este here but continued to escape.
He lost control and crashed into a footbridge where authorities cornered and arrested him.
A total of 10 motorcycles and cars sustained damage.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. A 41-year-old motorist from Gapan City was injured and treated on the spot by responding medical personnel.
The suspect was subjected to medical and alcohol testing and faces cases for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury, and damage to properties.
