KBL: Changwon escapes Daegu for sixth straight win

Jun-Seok showed poise and scored a layup at the 1:28 mark of the fourth quarter as the Sakers held on after dodging a huge bullet when Andrew Nicholson missed a three-point attempt. 

Also delivering the goods for Changwon was Assem Marei who put up a double-double performance of 14 points – including six in the final minutes – and 11 rebounds. 

Carl Tamayo and Jun-Seok backed him up with 14 apiece.

Nicholson, who caught fire in the payoff period, tallied 23 points and 12 rebounds while SJ Belangel chalked 23 points, two rebounds and seven assists in a losing cause. 

The Sakers hiked their record to 20-13 at third spot while the Pegasus absorbed back-to-back losses for an 18-15 slate – tied at fourth with the Suwon KT Sonicboom.

Changwon won its last six games since Jan. 11 with a victory against the Anyang JKJ Red Boosters (11-23).

Coming into the game as the hottest team in the league, the Sakers went off to a hot 17-6 start capped by a Tamayo deuce.

The Pegasus regained consciousness thanks to Belangel who spearheaded a 17-0 blitz to take a 23-17 lead before the opening frame ended.

It was a nip-and-tuck affair from there before Jun-Seok, Tamayo and Marei took over for the Sakers.
