Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island emitted ash twice on Saturday morning, Feb. 1, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
According to the state volcanology agency, the first event occurred from 10:08 a.m. to 10:12 a.m., followed by a second emission from 10:14 a.m. to 10:17 a.m.
Phivolcs said both episodes produced ash plumes that rose 100 to 150 meters above the summit crater before drifting westward.
The emissions were documented through time-lapse footage and snapshots from the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory (KVO) IP Camera and the Basler Camera in Canlaon City.
The agency has maintained Alert Level 3 over Kanlaon, indicating heightened volcanic unrest.
Under this alert level, a hazardous eruption remains possible, and the agency strongly advises against entry into the permanent danger zone (PDZ) within a six-kilometer radius.
Residents near the volcano are urged to take precautionary measures against ashfall, potential lahars, and pyroclastic flows.
