Senators Christopher “Bong” Go and Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Friday, January 31 expressed elation over their ranking in the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) survey released on January 28.
Both re-electionist senators are known allies of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
Dela Rosa led the implementation of Duterte's war on drugs as he served as the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) from 2016 to 2018.
Dela Rosa, who ranked in the 10th survey, said he would work hard to get a better chance at winning in the upcoming May 2025 elections.
“(There’s) No time to relax. No. 10 is not a safe place. It is better to be running scared than to be complacent,” the former PNP chief said.
Go, on the other hand, said that while he is grateful for the continued trust and support, his focus remains on fulfilling his mandate and serving the people to the best of his abilities.
“Hindi ako pulitiko na nangangako. Gagawin ko lang ang trabaho ko para sa mga Pilipino (I’m not a politician who just promises. I will just do my job for the Filipinos,” Go said.
The SWS senatorial survey, which was conducted from January 17 to 20, 2025, through face-to-face interviews with 1,800 registered voters, and with a ±2.31% margin of error for national results, yielded favorable results for the candidates backed by the Marcos administration.
At least eight (8) of these senatorial candidates backed by President Marcos continue to lead in the SWS survey commissioned by the Stratbase Group.
