Seized from the suspect was an improvised pistol loaded with a 12-gauge ammunition inside a blue sling bag, Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Joann G. Navarro said.

The suspect is under the custody of the Manolo Fortich Municipal Police Station for further investigation and proper legal proceedings.

“A case for violation of RA No. 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) and RA No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to Omnibus Election Gun Ban is being readied against the suspect,” Navarro said.

The PRO 10-Regional Operations Division said a 19-year-old woman reported to the Manolo Fortich MPS that two unidentified persons stole her motorcycle at around 12:30 a.m. at gunpoint.

Police launched a pursuit operation where a suspect, Mar, 21, and the motorcycle were intercepted. Seized from the suspect was a firearm.

However, his companion, Al, 21, evaded arrest and a manhunt operation against him is ongoing.

PRO-10 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jaysen C. de Guzman commended the swift response of Manolo Fortich MPS.

"The successful arrest of one suspect and recovery of an illegal firearm is a testament to the effectiveness of our intensified law enforcement efforts, especially during the election period when strict gun ban regulations are in place,” said De Guzman.

“We will not relent in pursuing the remaining suspect and ensuring justice for the victim."

Navarron urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the  police.
