9-foot snake captured from bathroom ceiling in Rosario, Cavite

CAVITE – A woman had the shock of her life when she saw a reticulated python, locally known as "sawa," right inside her house in Rosario on Thursday, Jan. 30.

Residents of Barangay Ligtong-IV hold up the 9-foot reticulated python that emerged from the bathroom ceiling of a house in the area.

Rosario Public Information Officer Sid Samaniego told the Manila Bulletin that a resident of Barangay Ligtong-IV discovered the snake clinging to the ceiling of her bathroom when she went in to use the toilet at past 3:00 a.m.

The resident sought help from her neighbor, who was able to capture the reticulated python.

“Ito na ang pangalawang pagkakataon sa taong ito na year of the snake na nakahuli ng sawa sa bayan na ito (This is the second time this year, the Year of the Snake, that a python has been captured in this town),” Samaniego said.

The snake was initially handed over to the barangay, which later transferred it to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).
