Motolite, the country's leading battery brand renowned for technology and product innovation, is reinforcing its position in the battery industry by making a positive environmental impact. The company has taken a significant step towards sustainability by introducing e-bikes for battery deliveries.

Motolite has started deploying eco-friendly e-bikes to key Motolite Express Hatid (MEH) hubs, where trained technicians will utilize them to deliver batteries and provide services to motorists. The initial rollout commenced on November 28, with the MEH Maceda Hub and Cebu Hub each receiving three e-bikes. Additional locations included in the project’s pilot phase are Mindanao Avenue, Las Piñas, Mandaluyong, Katipunan, and Pasong Tamo.

A cleaner and more efficient delivery solution

E-bikes offer a more sustainable alternative to traditional delivery vehicles. They produce zero emissions, help reduce air pollution, and have a carbon footprint that is three times smaller than gasoline-powered motorcycles. Unlike conventional vehicles, e-bikes also avoid contributing to noise pollution. Designed for urban mobility, they are lighter and easier to maneuver, making them ideal for navigating congested city streets. Furthermore, they provide speeds comparable to traditional motorcycles, ensuring efficient deliveries.

The e-bike initiative is part of Motolite’s broader sustainability campaign, which includes programs for recovering and recycling used lead-acid batteries (ULAB) and installing solar panels at its retail, warehousing, and production facilities. Motolite’s battery production plants in Bulacan already harness solar energy, with an installed photovoltaic system capacity of 7,472 kWp, which has helped reduce the company’s carbon footprint by 2,346 tons of CO2.

Partnership for a greener future

Both the e-bikes and solar panels are supplied by Greener Solar Power and Electric Motor, Inc. (GEMI), an emerging leader in the country’s green energy sector. Additionally, Motolite’s ULAB recovery and recycling program has significantly decreased the company’s reliance on fresh plastic resins and newly mined lead for battery production, further strengthening its commitment to environmental stewardship.

“We are looking for every opportunity to contribute to the global effort to limit climate change. We are the only battery brand that takes its sustainability drive seriously, from manufacturing to retail and delivery,” Richard A. Chan, Motolite Vice President for Sales and Marketing, shared.

Beyond battery delivery

In addition to providing free 24/7 battery deliveries nationwide, Motolite also offers roadside assistance services, including emergency refueling, jumpstarting dead batteries, addressing overheating issues, and flat tire replacements.Motorists can access these services via the Motolite Res-Q App.
