The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned the motorcycle rider who survived the motorcycle crash on Marilaque Road in Rizal early this week for what it described as a reckless and irresponsible motorcycle stunt that led to the death of a motovlogger.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the Show Cause Order (SCO) was already delivered and received at the house of the motorcycle rider, a resident of Lipa City in Batangas.
Based on the initial investigation that was stated at the SCO, the rider, who was also reported as a motovlogger, was identified as one of the two riders who “recklessly or without reasonable caution and regard for the safety of others performed unsafe maneuvers.”
It refers to the accident that killed another rider when the two performed the dangerous stunt along the Marilaque Road in Tanay town.
In the video of the incident, the motorcycle driven by the rider summoned by the SCO was seen hitting the motorcycle of the motovlogger when they both performed the “Superman stunt”.
“In view hereof, you are hereby directed appear and/or submit your response under oath within five (5) days from receipt hereof, attaching thereto all pertinent documents to rebut all the aforesaid allegation, to show cause as to why you should not be administratively charged for Reckless Driving and/or why your license should not be suspended or revoked for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle,” the SCO read.
The LTO investigation will focus on the violations on road safety that may result in the suspension or revocation of the driver’s license and the agency said it is separate from any investigation that may be conducted by the police for criminal liability of the surviving rider.
Aside from the motovlogger who died, at least six people were injured as a result of the crash of the two motorcycles.
The SCO stated that failure of the rider to submit an explanation shall be deemed as a waiver which would give authority to the LTO to use the available pieces of evidence to decide on his case.
