After suffering from a five-game slide this month, the Sonicboom finally figured out the puzzle and delivered right from the get-go, padding the lead to 48-29 in the first half which they preserved until the end despite the Promy's late-ditch effort in the fourth quarter.
Coming from a scoreless game in their win over Ulsan, JD Cagulangan had a decent performance of six points, one rebound and three assists while Koreans Heo Hoon and Ha Yun-Gi dazzled with 21 and 16 points, respectively.
This marked Cagulangan's first taste of back-to-back victories in the KBL.
On the other hand, Filipino-American Ethan Alvano struggled offensively after finishing with just three points along with five rebounds and seven assists. Kang Sang-Jae led Wonju with 15 points while Lee Kwan-Jee and Park In-Woong added 14 and 12.
The Sonicboom remained at fifth place with an 18-15 record while the Promy stood behind with a 16-18 slate.
It will be an exciting game for the Filipino fans as Cagulangan will face his fellow former UAAP standout and rival Kevin Quiambao with Suwon squaring off against the Goyang Sono Skygunners (10-23) this Friday, Jan. 31.
The former La Salle star aims to bounce back and make a difference for Goyang after being sidelined for 15 days due to an injury he sustained in his KBL debut.
