If the stars would align, brothers Carlos and Eldrew Yulo might just end up sharing the same stage in the sports’ grandest event in the future -- the Olympics.

Carlos said the idea of him and his younger brother donning the national tricolors for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is not impossible.

“It will be fun for sure that we’ll both represent the Philippines in the Olympics. It will be exciting for us,” Carlos said.

Easier said than done, though, according to Carlos, but he welcomed that challenge. After all, the 24-year-old seasoned gymnast endured years of hardships, countless tough training and sacrifices before winning that historic gold medals in vault and floor exercise in the artistic gymnastics of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Carlos also believes his brother’s capabilities in achieving that life-long dream.

“It will be challenging for both of us,” Carlos said. “The process will not be easy, but I’m praying that we both get qualified there.”

The Yulo brothers had already shared the same stage recently. At the Philippine Sportswriters Association Awards Night at the Manila Hotel, Carlos received the prestigious Athlete of the Year Awards for his Paris Olympics exploits, while Eldrew was given a Citation for his numerous achievements in the international stage last year including the Asian Junior Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan where he won the gold medal in vault.

“It would be an amazing dream. Everything is possible. Though it seems impossible, I will try my best to make it possible,” said Eldrew, who turned 17 last week.

That would mean threading almost the same path as his older brother: beefing up his resume by winning international tournaments here and there before joining the big leagues.

He’ll have his chance this year when the country hosts the 2025 Junior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in July.

“I’m gonna push myself to the limit,” he added.
