Septuagenarian perishes in Cebu City fire

CEBU CITY â€“ A 78-year-old man died in a fire in Barangay Kalunasan here on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

A HOUSE was destroyed by a fire at dawn on Wednesday, Jan. 29, in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City. (MyTVCebu)

The victim was identified as Zosimo Aspacio.

Aspacio visited his nephew Victor Emnace Jr. and was set to go home to Alegria, Cebu when the fire happened. The victim stayed in a room at the back interior portion of the house owned by Emnace.

The victim's charred remains were found at past 2 a.m. in his room. The house was also occupied by tenants.

The fire was raised to first alarm at 2:29 a.m. and was put under control at 2:43 a.m.

The fire also damaged two other houses and displaced 15 individuals. Damage to property was pegged at P160,500.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
