In his speech at the job expo on Wednesday, Jan. 29 in Pasay City, Marcos said a good result from the job fair would prompt his administration to sustain the program and bring it to other parts of the country.

"Kung maganda ang maging resulta, ang plano talaga namin ay gagawa kami ng ganito bawat – ng isang ganito bawat buwan para mapuntahan, hindi lamang dito sa Maynila kung hindi sa iba’t ibang lugar din (If this yield a good result, our plan is to hold such job fair once a month not just in Manila but also in other places)," Marcos said.

"[P]ara hindi na kailangan mapunta rito sa Maynila, sa NCR at puntahan natin yung mga nais mag-apply sa iba’t ibang probinsya sa labas (So that job applicants no longer have to come to Manila, to the National Capital Region, and let's reach out to those who want to apply in different provinces)," he added.

Marcos graced the job fair organized by Jobstreet by SEEK PH and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) which sought to connect 15,000 job seekers to more than 100 hiring companies from various industries. It will run for two days.

As part of the job expo, Jobstreet hosts a free career conference featuring experts from various companies who share insights on workforce trends, workplace challenges and practical tips for job applicants.

In his speech, the President said the unemployment rate in the country has significantly dropped. However, he stressed that the work must not end there, Filipinos must land jobs that would give them an opportunity to be promoted.

Unemployment rate dropped to 3.2 percent in November last year, easing from the 3.9 percent previously.

Marcos also said that the government's support to job applicants has been made better, ensuring them that through job fairs facilitated by the government would not leave them wondering whether they would be hired or not.

"Hindi na po ganoon. Mas mabigat at mas malakas ang suporta ngayon ng pamahalaan para naman ay kayo ay mas may kakayanan upang makakuha ng magagandang trabaho (It is no longer like that. The government's support for you to land in a better job is now more intensified and stronger)," Marcos said.

He cited the reskilling programs offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which help workers improve their skills and gain additional skills to meet the qualifications sought by companies in various industries.

Some of the participating employers during the job fair included SM Retail, Acquire, Philip Morris, TeleTech, Techno Global Team, Flash Express, Cardinal Health, Accenture, Nestlé, Meralco, Petron, Metrobank, JPMorgan Chase and Federal Land, among others.
