Marivic, former Mayor Mabilog’s wife, slams Dela Rosa in FB post

ILOILO CITY – Marivic Mabilog, wife of former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, was irked by the contradicting statements made by Sen.  Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa following the presidential pardon of her husband.

“Just shut up, Bato!” said Marivic in a lengthy Facebook post in response to Dela Rosa’s statement that he was not so sure if then Mayor Mabilog hand a hand in the proliferation of illegal drugs in Iloilo City which was dubbed by then President Rodrigo Duterte as “shabulized.”

While Dela Rosa said the presidential pardon was not a drug-related case, he claimed he never saw anything when he served as Philippine National Police chief.

Duterte targeted Mr. Mabilog in public speeches and threatened to kill him for being a protector of a drug syndicate.

Marivic’s actions are unlike of the former mayor who claimed that he has forgiven Duterte and Dela Rosa.

Mr. Mabilog told Manila Bulletin that he and Dela Rosa had a cordial meeting on the sidelights of the 2025 Dinagyang Festival on Sunday, Jan. 26.

“Jed may have forgiven you all in his heart, but that’s him. He lives his life, practicing and adhering strictly to his Catholic faith. But not me, not yet, anyway,” Marivic said.

“My story, my experience of your cruelty and injustice is personal for me. Forgiveness, for me, is God’s sole prerogative. I had forgiven myself for detesting Duterte and his minions like yourself. Yes, forgiven myself,” Marivic added.

Marivic and her children are still the United States where they sought asylum after they left the country in August 2017 following Duterte’s death threats.

Only Mr. Mabilog returned to the country last September.
