Police confiscated around 44 kilos of marijuana allegedly being distributed to students in the University Belt area of Manila, the Manila Police District reported on Thursday, Jan. 30.

The operation led to the arrest of the 40-year-old suspect, identified only by the alias "Ramil," during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Sampaloc Police Station.

According to the police, the suspect was dropping off the drugs in the University Belt area, targeting students as his primary customers.

The MPD said an informant tipped off the authorities about the suspect’s hideout, prompting them to plan the operation.

The authorities seized 44 kilos of dried marijuana leaves, valued at approximately P5.3 million, during the operation.

Police revealed that the suspect has a history of involvement in illegal drug activities, having been previously detained and only recently released in November last year.
