The suspect, identified as "Vin," said he regretted taking his child hostage with a sharp weapon.

“Wala pong pananadya po doon sa nangyari po na may patalim po. Pasensiya na po, hindi ko po alam, sobrang dilim na dilim na po ng isip ko (There was no intention behind what happened when I pointed the knife. I apologize, I didn’t know what was happening because my mind was so clouded and dark),” he explained.

“Patawad mga anak. Hindi ko intensyon lahat ng nangyari. Hihingi po ako ng tawad sa asawa ko. Hindi ko gusto 'yung lahat ng nangyari. Patawarin n'yo ako. Gusto ko kayong makasama, gusto kong mabuo ulit 'yung pamilya natin (I apologize to my kids. I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I will apologize to my wife. I don’t want any of this to happen. Please forgive me. I want to be with you and have our family back together),” he said while crying.

The hostage incident occurred on Saturday night along C6 Road in Taytay which ended with the suspect surrendering to authorities after a successful negotiation.

The Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said the suspect's actions may have been prompted by the alleged rape accusations filed against him involving his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

Upon questioning, the suspect said he would just explain in court.

In an interview, his live-in partner revealed that she had previously caught the suspect in the act of raping her 13-year-old daughter in the presence of their twin children.

Meanwhile, the one-year-old baby who was taken hostage is now in good condition, with minor wounds on her neck where her father had held a bladed object. The suspect's live-in partner and their other children are also recovering from wounds allegedly inflicted by Vin.

Officials of Taytay Municipal Police Station said the suspect is currently in their custody and is facing charges for violations of Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004), alarm and scandal, and illegal possession of bladed weapons.
