Ralph Tulfo apologizes for using EDSA bus lane

In a statement on Tuesday night, Jan. 28, Tulfo owed up to the violation he committed.

He clarified that there was no mention of any personality or any position during their apprehension.

This, after the car he was riding on passed through the lane that was exclusive for buses and for select high-ranking government officials, such as the President.

He claimed that no abuse of power took place in the avoidance of penalty. In fact, he said, they accepted the fine, paid for it and underwent a seminar about traffic rules.

Tulfo's statement came several hours after his father, Senator Raffy Tulfo, disclosed that the congressman admitted violating traffic law.

The elder Tulfo said he saw nothing wrong with the incident because his son neither lied nor tried to escape authorities. He also ordered him to issue a public apology.

"Muli, taos-puso po akong humihingi ng inyong paumanhin at pang-unawa. Nangangako po akong gagawin ko ang lahat ng hakbang upang maiwasan ang ganitong uri ng pagkakamali sa hinaharap (Again, I would like to offer my most heartfelt apology and ask for your understanding. I promise that I will take actions to prevent that from happening again in the future)," the congressman said.
