The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy more personnel along the Marilaque Road, particularly the favorite hangout and exhibition sites of motorcycle riders in Rizal, following the viral “Superman stunt" that left a motovlogger dead and at least four others injured.

Police Lt. Dhame Malang, spokesperson of the PNP-Highway Patrol Group, said police presence will be felt especially during daytime and during the weekend where hundreds of motorcycle riders go for a road trip along the 115-kilometer Marilaque Road.

“We already have personnel from the Rizal Highway Patrol Team but additional teams from Laguna, Cavite and Quezon will be tapped to patrol and monitor the situation there,” said Malang.

While the Marilaque Road is long, the official said motorcycle riders usually converge at the Palo Alto in Tanay Rizal where the so-called Devil’s Curve is located, as well as the Palo Alto- Mt. Masungi area.

The increased police visibility came after the death of John Louie Arguelles who died when he and another rider crashed while performing a dangerous motorcycle stunt.

The incident involving Arguelles was the 13th road accident along Marilaque Road from Jan. 1 this year.

In 2024, PNP-HPG recorded a total of 158 road accidents along Marilaque Road, most of them in the Palo Alto area.
