116 Quezon City Jail male PDLs take alternative learning system exam

A total of 116 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD) took an examination that would allow them to graduate and be eligible to proceed to the next educational level.

The Accreditation and Evaluation ( A and E), according to the QCJMD, is under the alternative learning system (ALS).

Citing tis data, the QCJMD revelaed that 15 PDLs took the test for the elementary grade level while “111 examinees were junior high school PDL learners.’’

QCJMD warden Supt. Warren Geronimo said the program is one of the constitutive rights of every Filipino citizen to gain access to free education in a bid to eliminate illiteracy in the country.

On the other hand, 59 PDLs at the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory (QCJFD) underwent similar tests in the facility.

Out of the 59 examinees, eight and 51 PDLs took the test for the elementary and junior high school levels respectively.

“This certification can serve as a valuable tool for PDL in pursuing further education or employment opportunities upon reintegration into society,’’ the QCJFD noted.

QCJFD warden Chief Inspector Lourvina Abrazado stressed that the initiative aligns with the facility’s “No Woman Left Behind” program, which seeks to empower the PDLs through education, livelihood training and other developmental programs.
