Biggest drug haul in Caraga: PDEA seizes P108-M worth of shabu in Agusan del Sur buy-bust

Government anti-narcotics agents seized on Monday, Jan. 27, around P108 million worth of shabu following the arrest of two drug suspects during a buy-bust operation in Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur, the largest shabu hauls in the history in the Caraga region.

In a statement, the the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said the suspects were collared during the operation 6:40 a.m. in Purok 1, Barangay Santa Irene where 16 self-sealing plastic bags of shabu, concealed in the package of a local courier services firm were confiscated.

The PDEA noted that of the confiscated items include two kilograms of buy-bust items, 14 kilograms identified as seized evidence of possession, five digital weighing scales, a glass pipe, assorted packaging materials, buy-bust money and communication devices believed to be used by the suspects in their illegal drug transactions.

The seized drugs and pieces of non-drug evidence are now under the custody of loca PDEA unit.

The suspects face charges for violations of Sections 5 (sale, trading, distribution, transportation of dangerous drugs) and 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165.
