Barbie Forteza, one of today’s most sought-after actresses, radiates natural, captivating beauty and an infectious, bubbly personality both on and off camera. Unknown to many, this personality of hers also extends to Barbie’s choice of perfume and fragrances—light, fun, and dreamy.
In a conversation with Manila Bulletin Lifestyle, the 27-year-old actress shared that she’s into vanilla scents, as it reminds her of cloud-like dreams. This is something she found in the BW Women by Blackwater. Blackwater, is a local perfume brand that Barbie is currently endorsing.
“When I say dreams, I always think of clouds, calmness, and sweetness. The feeling of being inspired and in love, like the visuals in Kathy Perry’s music video of California Gurls,” she said during the launch of Blackwater Women’s Whimsy collection. This new collection is composed of five new scents—Whimsy, Wish, Dream, Lullaby, Spell, and Dream.
The Pulang Araw star also said that perfume is one of the secrets to keeping a positive perspective in life. As an actress, it is important for her to leave a lasting impression not just with her fashion look but also through her scent.
“I achieve my best self every day by keeping a positive perspective and aura the moment I wake up. When you do that, you’re inviting good vibes. Then, I will go down and spend time with my parents. Surround yourself with good people,” she said. “When it comes to self-care, maarte ako sa katawan. I used a lot of different products. But the most important thing for me is the scent because it’s part of the core memory when someone meets you for the first time. That’s your lasting impression. Don’t just give a positive aura but also give them a lasting scent.”
She also shared that a sentimental person, scents remind her of her loved ones. “I am a very sentimental person, and scent plays an important role in that,” she said. “My friends and family have their distinct smell that I know it’s them. So whenever I am, especially when I’m traveling abroad, if I smell it—it reminds me of mama and daddy. That’s how important scent is to me. That’s why I always make sure that I am wearing the best scent—the BW Women Whimsy collection.”
When asked about her favorite scent among the collection, Barbie said that her go-to is the Whimsy Deo Body Spray. Whimsy has the top citrusy notes of orange, pineapple, and strawberry; heart notes of freesia, jasmine, peach, and violet; and the base notes of coconut, gourmand, wood, and musk. The first spray would remind the user of a sweet candy, but once it settles, it gives that sweet, sophisticated scent that lasts for hours.
Barbie then gives tips on finding one’s right scent and how to make it last longer.
