Living a healthy life isn’t just about staying active; it’s about creating spaces where people can connect and thrive. By transforming streets into car-free, pedestrian-friendly zones, Ayala Land is making it easier for families to enjoy quality time and for communities to grow stronger. It’s a step toward encouraging movement, fostering relationships, and building healthier, happier neighborhoods.
Vermosa came alive with renewed energy as the 752-hectare masterplanned estate by Ayala Land Inc.—its sixth-largest—launched its “Open Streets” initiative on January 18, 2025. It is an invitation for Caviteños and visitors to reclaim the roads for themselves. For the next six weekends, Vermosa’s major roads, including Vermosa Boulevard, Champions Loop, and Olympic Drive, will transform into vibrant, car-free zones, buzzing with life, laughter, and movement.
The charm of the event lies in its clarity of vision and purpose. May P. Rodriguez, VP and senior project development head of estates group of Ayala Land, shares how this effort showcases the estate and the developer's dedication to wellness and community through vibrant, car-free spaces. "This initiative embodies Vermosa estate and Ayala Land's commitment to promoting an active lifestyle and strengthening community bonds. By transforming our streets to lively, car-free, pedestrian spaces, we're not just encouraging physical activity, we're also opening opportunities for neighbors to connect and families to enjoy quality time together.”
Inspired by the Car-Free Sundays of Ayala Avenue, which was launched by Ayala Land and Make It Makati in September 2023, the Vermosa "Open Streets" extends beyond just physical activity. Roller skaters glide through the paths, artists find joy in painting, and families participate in pocket fitness classes—all set against the lush green backdrop of Vermosa’s landscaped parks and the Vermosa Greenway. Food and retail booths add to the festive atmosphere, creating a community hub where leisure and wellness intertwine seamlessly.
Chrissy Roa, corporate and estates marketing and communications group head of Ayala Land, highlights the broader vision: “By making our streets more accessible for exercise and recreation, Vermosa is taking a proactive step towards community wellness. Vermosa 'Open Streets' is more than just a weekend activity, it's a testament to Ayala Land's vision of creating communities that are forward-thinking, sustainable, and environmentally conscious."
The initiative is a natural extension of Vermosa’s reputation as a hub for wellness and sports. The Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub, with its top-notch facilities, already serves as a training ground for athletes and a space for recreational enthusiasts. "Open Streets" amplifies this spirit, inviting everyone to embrace a healthier, more active lifestyle.
This initiative transforms roads into spaces for connection, where neighbors meet, families bond, and visitors experience a modern suburban haven. With its strategic location, eco-friendly design, and dynamic features, Vermosa isn’t just a destination—it’s a lifestyle that fosters community and active living.
