CAMP Marcelo Adduru, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Police Regional Office-2 commemorated the heroism of the 44 Special Action Force commandos killed 10 years ago in Mamasapano, Maguindanao on Jan. 25, 2015 in a ceremony in this camp on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025.

Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr., PRO-2 chief, led the ceremony with the families of the six members from Cagayan Valley – Police Officer 2 Joel Dulnuan of Nueva Vizcaya, PO3 Loreto Capinding Jr., PO3 Rodrigo Acob, and PO3 Andres Duque Jr. of Isabela, and PO2 Richelle Baluga and PO1 Oliebeth Viernes of Cagayan province.
“The loss has made us mourn and grieve but made us stronger. This day reminds us that the strength of the country is derived also from the blood of gallant heroes who embodied the country’s visions and faith,” Marallag said.
Marallag added that the country must never forget the incredible bravery and love for the country displayed by the SAF 44 even as freedom is finally felt in Maguindanao.
Jan. 25, per Presidential Proclamation No. 164, of every year is marked as National Day of Remembrance for the SAF 44.
