Police net P32.4-M illegal drugs


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Police seized illegal drugs valued at P32.4 million and arrested two suspected drug pushers in Benguet, Kalinga, and Baguio City on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Twenty-two thousand fully grown marijuana plants and 230 grams of dried marijuana leaves and stalks worth P32 million were discovered in four plantations in Barangay Tulgao West, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

One-thousand, six-hundred fully grown marijuana plants with a standard drug price of P320,000 were found in a three-plantation in Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, and Barangay Sagubo, Kapangan.

The two suspects were apprehended in buy-bust operations in Barangay Bulanao Centro, Tabuk City, Kalinga and Barangay Burnham-Legarda, Baguio City.

The 27-year-old female suspect in Tabuk City considered a street-level individual was caught in a search warrant operation. Recovered from her were eight sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 13.1 grams and valued at P89,080.

The other suspect, a 26-year-old man considered a street-level individual from Baguio City, was nabbed in a buy-bust operation. He yielded shabu weighing approximately 0.71 grams worth P4,828.

Police assured the public that the campaign against illegal drugs in the Cordillera region would not waver.
