2 dead in Bais City truck crash

BACOLOD CITY – Two persons were killed and two others were seriously injured after a long bed truck loaded with sugarcane plunged off a bridge in Barangay Tamisu, Bais City, Negros Oriental on Friday, Jan. 24.

Police Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental police, said the fatalities were the truck driver and a passenger.

Police said the truck was on the way to Bais City from Mabinay, Negros Oriental when it  encountered mechanical failure while approaching the descending curve road.

The driver tried to maneuver and control the vehicle but failed and the truck fell off a brudge and rammed a tree. 

Rescuers extracted the victims who were relatives and taken to a hospital where two of them died.
