Tamayo, Changwon extend win streak to four games in KBL

Tamayo, 23, had a decent seven points, five rebounds and one steal to back up Darryl Monroe who starred with a double-double effort of 18 points and 14 rebounds, including his back-to-back baskets with under a minute left that sealed the Sakers' fourth consecutive win.

Currently missing the service of Kevin Quiambao due to an injury, DJ Burns led the way with 12 points and 15 rebounds while Park Jin-Cheol and Jeong Seong added 11 and 10, respectively, for the Skygunners.

Changwon improved to 18-13 at third spot while Goyang plummeted to ninth place with a 10-21 win-loss card in the standings.

It was the Skygunners who had their rhythm going in the opening minutes of the game as they rushed to an 8-0 lead before making it 25-13 in the second frame.

The Sakers gradually recovered and went off to a 13-2 run that made it 36-31 heading into the break.

The clash then turned into a nip-and-tuck affair before Monroe took the matter into his own hands and orchestrated the 8-0 blitz which served as the knockout blow to finish the game.

Meanwhile, Migs Oczon and the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus sustained their second straight loss after succumbing to the Seoul SK Knights, 83-71.

Oczon, a former CSB Blazers, put up nine points, seven rebounds and six assists while Shawn Long topscored with 24 points along with 10 rebounds in a losing cause as the Mobis Phoebus absorbed their 10th defeat against 20 wins at second place.
