P52.50-B illegal drugs, chemicals, lab equipment seized under PBBM admin, says PDEA

A total of P52.50 billion worth of illegal drugs, laboratory equipment, and controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs) were seized by various anti-narcotics authorities under the administration of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported.

In the latest National Anti-Drug Campaign report released Wednesday, Jan. 22, the PDEA said that 6,764.56 kilograms (kgs) of shabu, 80.76 kgs of cocaine, 120,553 pieces of ecstasy, and 6,247.70 kgs of marijuana were confiscated by the authorities from July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2024. 

Out of the 94,050 anti-drug operations conducted, a total of 127,155 drug personalities were arrested, including 8,138 high-value targets (HVT).

During the said operations, various anti-narcotics authorities dismantled two clandestine laboratories and 1,266 drug dens nationwide.

With the government’s intense whole-nation illegal drug campaign approach, 29,390 barangays in the country are now "drug-cleared" while 6,113 barangays remain drug-affected.

Barangays previously classified as drug-affected underwent the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) and were ultimately declared free from the influence of drugs by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) after careful deliberation and validation.

Led by a PDEA regional director, the ROCBDC is composed of regional representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Health (DOH), and local government units (LGUs).

Further, the PDEA explained that a barangay is declared cleared from illegal drug activities after complying with the standards of Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No. 4 Series of 2021, otherwise known as “Sustaining the Implementation BDCP and Repealing for such purpose Board Regulation No. 3 Series of 2017.”

The PDEA added that drug-affected barangays are those with reported and validated presence of persons who use drugs (PWUDs), pushers, drug den maintainers, coddlers, protectors, financiers, cultivators, and manufacturers among others.
