Lone chicken survives poultry farm fire

BUGALLON, Pangasinan – A lone chicken survived a fire that hit a poultry farm in Barangay Gueset here on Tuesday.

Reports said the fire started in one of the buildings and quickly spread to adjacent structures. Employees tried to put out fire using fire extinguishers but failed as the flames grew.

The Bureau of Fire Protection suspects electrical short circuit as the cause of the blaze that burned or suffocated 35,000 chickens.

Residents said the fire was already over when firemen arrived two hours after it was reported. Damage to property was estimated at P40 million.

Arson investigators are conducting follow-up investigation.
