Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) administrator Arnell Ignacio is set to make a comeback in the music scene as he serenades fans in a post-Valentine's show titled "Timeless," which is scheduled to take place at the Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila, on Feb. 15.
Arnell didn't expect his friend, former actress-turned-producer Liz Alindogan, to actually produce a concert for him. They became friends during the pandemic.
"I will be performing some of my favorite love songs. Maraming surprises sa aming repertoire," said Arnell, who will also be performing with The New Minstrels.
Liz, one of the favorite leading ladies of the late Action King Fernando Poe Jr and King of Comedy Dolphy, said she had been producing concerts since she retired from acting.
"I have produced many concerts, such as Jose Mari Chan, Vernie Varga, Gretchen Barretto, and Nyoy Volante. Nanalo rin ako sa Aliw Award sa Best Concert Producer. So I must say, gamay ko na talaga ang mag produce ng show."
Arnell and Liz shared their thoughts on staging a show the day after Valentine's Day. They believe people will still watch the show after Feb. 14.
"Sa real housewife na katulad ko, kahit Feb. 15 pa kami mag-date okay lang. At saka marami ang darating sa show dahil si Arnell ang nandoon. First time uli nilang maririnig kumanta si Arnell after so many years. (For a real housewife like me, even if we date on Feb. 15, it's okay. And besides, many people will come to the show because Arnell is there. It's the first time they'll hear Arnell sing after so many years)," Liz said.
Arnell said that life is too short to spend time arguing about a date in February.
"Ang daming nangyayari ngayon. Life is too short para mamili kung kailan ang Valentine's date. Kahit Semana Santa pa yan okay lang mag-date. (There's so much going on right now. Life is too short to choose when to have a Valentine's date. Even if it's Holy Week, it's okay to date)," he said.
Message to Ai-Ai
Arnell also offered advice to Ai-Ai, who is one of her closest friends in the entertainment industry.
"Huwag ka ng umiyak at matanda ka na. Global consultant ka na ng mga kinakaliwa. Magpa-workshop ka na kung paano ihahandle ang mga kinakaliwa," said Arnell. "Magtayo na rin siya ng partylist. Asawang inaapi, asawang iniiwan. (Stop crying and you're old. You're a global consultant for those who are being abused. Go hold a workshop on how to handle those who are being abused," said Arnell. "He should also build a party list. Oppressed wives, abandoned wives.)"
Susmaryosep! I'm sure maraming makikinig sa kanya. At sa pinagdaanan niya, look at her! Nakatindig pa rin! Magpa-workshop na siya. Mag-hold siya ng masterclass." (But seriously, Ai-Ai's experience in that regard is priceless. Susmaryosep! I'm sure many will listen to her. And with what she's been through, look at her! She's still standing! She should hold a workshop. She should hold a masterclass.)
He made a comment about Ai-Ai, who has failed in her marriage for the third time.
On Nov. 11, 2024, Ai-Ai confirmed that she and her husband, Gerald Sibayan, had separated.
Ai-Ai revealed this during her appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on GMA Network.
"Hiwalay na kami. Last month pa. Basta hindi ko makakalimutan. October 14, nag-chat siya, madaling araw sa Pilipinas. 'Yun nga. Sinabi niya na gusto niya magkaanak at hindi na siya happy. (We broke up. Last month. As long as I can't forget. On October 14, he chatted early in the morning in the Philippines. That's it. He said he wanted to have children and he wasn't happy anymore.)
"So medyo confused ako and shocked, and bakit ngayon? Bakit ngayong oras na 'to? Sana hinintay mo man lang ako makauwi sa Amerika. (So I'm a little confused and shocked, and why now? Why at this time? I hope you at least waited for me to get back to the US)," she said.
Ai-Ai tearfully revealed that they attempted to conceive a child through in vitro fertilization (IVF). They had three embryos, but Gerald was deeply hurt after losing two of them.
"Mayroon pa kaming isang embryo eh. Sabi ko sa kanya, kapag nagkapera kami, isu-surprise ko sana siya na ilalagay ko 'yung baby para magkaroon kami ng baby. Siguro ‘yun 'yung nagtrigger sa kaniya na ayaw niya ng surprise na bibigyan ko siya ng baby. (We still have one embryo. I told him, when we had money, I was going to surprise him by implanting the baby so we could have a baby. Maybe that's what triggered him not wanting the surprise that I would give him a baby)," the actress said.
Gerald obtained his green card after being sponsored by AiAi, leading to their marriage in 2017. AiAi has held a green card since 2015, making her a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
AiAi and Gerald renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas in 2022, celebrating their 10th anniversary in April.
Miguel Vera, a former actor, was Ai-Ai's first husband. They married in 1996 but separated a few years later. The marriage faced significant challenges, and Ai-Ai openly discussed the emotional and physical abuse she allegedly suffered during that period. She subsequently filed for annulment, which was granted in 2003.
In 2013, Ai-Ai garnered attention due to her relationship with businessman Jed Salang. Their romance began with great intensity, and they married in the same year.
However, things took a turn for the worse when Ai-Ai publicly revealed that Jed had been allegedly abusive towards her.
Subsequently, she sought legal action and filed for an annulment, which she later confirmed, leading to their official separation.
