Honda Philippines is expanding its lineup of hybrid vehicle offerings with the addition of another new model, the HR-V RS e:HEV. Previewed earlier this week, the new model serves as an update to HR-V lineup, marking the first appearance of the much-anticipated hybrid variant. The hybrid is the new flagship of the trim levels, showcasing Honda’s latest e:HEV hybrid technology. Set to be priced between ₱1.6 million to ₱1.9 million, the updated HR-V range also includes new iterations of the V and S variants, each offering enhanced features and technology.

The RS e:HEV variant leads the charge with a bold new design and an advanced powertrain. Powered by a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle DOHC i-VTEC engine paired with Honda’s e:HEV hybrid system, the RS HEV delivers a combined output of 131-PS and a torque of 253-Nm. This hybrid system intelligently switches between electric-only, hybrid, and engine-driven modes, ensuring seamless performance and remarkable fuel efficiency.

The dual-motor setup does not mean all-wheel drive, but rather consists of one propulsion motor and one generator. Complementing its technical prowess, the RS features sporty styling with red accents, an e:HEV badge, and Honda’s signature RS design elements, including 18-inch alloy wheels and a nice little heartbeat strip on the bottom front grill.

In a notable departure from the outgoing model, the turbocharged engine leaves the options list, with the V and S variants now sporting the non-turbo engine from the previous generation. While the outgoing turbocharged mill was well-loved among enthusiasts, the market pointed to a preference towards the non-turbo of the outgoing version. This change is aimed at broadening the HR-V’s appeal while maintaining a balance between affordability and premium features. The V variant also receives an upgrade to 18-inch wheels, mirroring the RS HEV’s design. Furthermore, it includes Honda SENSING, a suite of advanced safety features that enhance driver confidence.

For customers looking for a more affordable entry point into the HR-V range, the S variant remains available. While it offers fewer premium features, the S variant still comes equipped with Honda SENSING, emphasizing safety as a standard across the lineup. With this model, buyers gain access to essential safety features like collision mitigation braking system (CMBS) and adaptive cruise control (ACC), making it a compelling choice for those prioritizing peace of mind on the road.

Expanding the experience with Honda CONNECT

One of the standout upgrades across the new HR-V range is the introduction of Honda CONNECT, a first for this model. This advanced connected-car technology allows owners to interact with their vehicles remotely via a mobile app. Features include remote lock/unlock, vehicle location tracking, geofencing alerts, and push notifications for security or maintenance updates. Honda CONNECT also offers practical conveniences like remote climate control and a visual dashboard for monitoring fuel levels and other key information, further enhancing the ownership experience.
