Alex Eala lost her steam and suffered another early exit as she yielded to Slovenia’s Dalila Jakupovic, 4-6, 4-6, in Round of 16 of the ITF W100 Bengaluru in India Thursday, Jan. 23.
Struggling heavily early on against her lower ranked opponent, the 19-year-old Eala bounced back and mounted a 4-2 lead in the second set. Unfortunately, the older Jakupovic regained her bearing and captured the next four games to conclude their one hour and 22 minutes affair.
The WTA No. 231 Jakupovic will now battle Czech Linda Fruhvirtova in the quarterfinal.
It was another disappointing exit for Eala this year after suffering thes same fate in the Australian Open qualifiers earlier this month.
Before getting booted out, the WTA No. 136 Eala rolled past Arriane Hartono of the Netherlands, 6-1, 6-1, in the opening round.
