The statement was released following a now-viral post circulating online regarding an incident of alleged child abduction.

Authorities clarified that the incident occurred in 2023 at the Taytay Tiangge where a child was grabbed by a man allegedly under the influence of illegal drugs, which was immediately reported to them and led to the immediate arrest of the man seen on the video.

“Ngunit sa di inaasahang pagkakataon ay pinatawad ng magulang ng bata ang nahuling lalake at iniatras ang dapat na kasong kakaharapin nito (However, in an unexpected turn of events, the child's parents forgave the arrested man and decided to withdraw the case),” it explained.

The Taytay MPS reminded the public to carefully examine the content of every post before believing and sharing it.

It also reminded parents and guardians to always ensure their child's safety and suggested that children should carry an ID with their contact information in case they get lost.
