Kapamilya star Seth Fedelin is still on cloud nine after he won the Breakthrough Performance Award for the movie "My Future You" at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal in December.

At the press conference for Star Magic Spotlight held at Coffee Project in Quezon City recently, Seth said he did not expect to receive an acting award.

"Hindi ako makapaniwala. Delayed yung reaction ko. Pag-uwi ko doon ko lang naramdaman at hinawakan yung trophy. Ganito pala ang pakiramdam kapag napansin yung ginawa mo...yung talento mo. (I couldn't believe it. My reaction was delayed. When I got home, I only felt it and held the trophy. This is how it feels when you get noticed for what you did...your talent)," said Seth.

Seth added: "Pag-uwi ko, gising na gising pa sila mama noon kaso late na rin natapos yung Gabi ng Parangal. Hinintay talaga ako nila mama at gusto nilang mahawakan yung trophy. Yung post ko, hawak ko yung trophy, tapos hawak din nila. Sobrang saya ko talaga. (When I got home, they were still wide awake because the awards night had already ended late. They were really waiting for me and they wanted to hold the trophy. When I posted, I was holding the trophy, and then they were holding it too. I was really happy.)

"Pagdating ko sa bahay meron ng hinanda si mama ng paborito kong pagkain. Kuman lang kami ang nagkwentuhan. Nagbalik-tanaw kami at nagkwentuhan sa mga dati. Hindi ko talaga makakalimutan yun. (When I got home, my mom had prepared my favorite food. We just ate and talked. We looked back and talked about the past. I'll never forget that)," he said.

Seth, 22, admitted there was pressure when he won the acting award. Incidentally, he was also nominated for best actor in the same awards show.

"Napakalaking bagay ng award at nakakatakot dahil sa susunod, hindi na breakthrough. May mga nababasa kasi akong comments. Nakakatuwa at kinakabahan ako kasi hindi naman laging best yung ipapakita mo at hindi naman lahat ng oras magugustuhan ng tao yung ipapakita ko. Yun ang pinaghahandaan ko. (The award is a big deal and it's scary because the next time, it won't be a breakthrough. I read some comments. It's funny and I'm nervous because what you show isn't always the best and people won't always like what I show. That's what I'm preparing for)," he said.

Seth recalled that the movie My Future You, which also stars Francine Diaz, was not intended for the MMFF. It was supposed to be shown in September until Regal Entertainment decided to enter the romantic comedy film in the annual holiday film festival.

Seth, who describes himself as shy, couldn't quite explain his confidence in facing the camera. However, he mentioned that he trusted the process and talked to himself.

In the roles he envisions for the future, Seth expressed a strong desire to explore more dramatic characters that would challenge his acting abilities. 

He mentioned feeling excited about the prospect of portraying a "bad boy" archetype, someone who exudes a rebellious and edgy charm, allowing him to tap into a different emotional depth and complexity in his performances. 

Seth believes that stepping into such intense roles would not only be a thrilling experience but also an opportunity to showcase his versatility as an actor.

"Gusto kong gumawa ng action movies. Slow but sure. So gusto kong pag-aralan ang action. Kadalasan ng role ko mabait. Gusto kong maranasan yung bida pero yung dadagdagan ko ng konting angas yung character. Bida na parang bad boy," he said. "Mahirap ang action. Nakakapagod. Hindi maiiwasan ang masaktan. Yun ang gusto ko rin pag-aralan. (I want to do action movies. Slow but sure. So I want to study action. Most of my roles are good. I want to experience the hero but I want to add a little bit of arrogance to the character. A hero who is like a bad boy," he said. "Action is difficult. It's tiring. Getting hurt is inevitable. That's what I want to study too.)"

Seth also shared what his fans could expect from him in 2025. It was previously announced that he would be part of the upcoming Kapamilya series "Nobody" starring Gerald Anderson.

After the success of My Future You, Seth expressed excitement about the possibility of working on another movie project with Francine.

On improving his craft, Seth said: "Nanonood ako ng pelikula ng mga sikat na artista. Movie marathon ako sa bahay. Minsan pinopost ko kung ano ang sinasabi nila. Yung mga line na tumatagos sa akin. (I watch movies by famous actors. I have movie marathons at home. Sometimes I post what they say. Those lines that get through to me.)

Seth said he wanted to speak English fluently.

"Magpapakatotoo na ako. Gusto kong matuto magsalita ng English. Kami ni Francine kapag nag-uusap kami English. Minsan tinuturuan niya ako. Lumaki ako na hindi nakakarinig ng English so nahihirapan ako magsalita. (I'm going to be honest. I want to learn to speak English. Francine and I speak English when we talk. Sometimes she teaches me. I grew up not hearing English so I have a hard time speaking.)

"Minsan kapag nagsasalita ka parang ang weird sa sarili mo. Ganun ang nararamdaman ko pero sa pandinig ng iba okay naman siya. Yun ang pinag-aaralan ko kaya pinapanood ko yung mga pelikulang English. (Sometimes when you speak it sounds weird to yourself. That's how I feel, but to other people it sounds okay. That's what I'm studying, so I watch English movies)," he said.
