The Las Piñas City Council on Monday, Jan. 20, discussed proposals for granting tax amnesty on real property, employee benefits, children's welfare, and the preservation of the city's cultural heritage.

Vice Mayor April Aguilar said that the City Council’s regular session highlighted the endorsement of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act 12001, which offers tax amnesty on real property taxes and special levies for delinquent property owners, with options for either a one-time payment or installment payments until July 5, 2026.

Aguilar also mentioned that the City Council reviewed the City Treasurer's request for the release of the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) to all qualified government employees, in line with Administrative Order No. 27 on December 12, 2024.

She added that the proposed amendments to the Children’s Code of Las Piñas, which aim to update definitions such as “Fully Immunized Child,” expand children’s rights to immunization, and enhance maternal and child health services, were also discussed and will be referred for further deliberation.

The vice mayor also noted that the City Council discussed a resolution recognizing the updated official list of identified heritage and cultural sites in the city and added that the list will be endorsed to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCAA) to further promote and protect the city’s rich cultural heritage.
