QCPD reports sharp decline in crime incidents in the city

There has been a sharp decline of 19.97 percent in Quezon City's eight focus crimes - including physical injuries, theft, robbery, and other violent offenses, while incidents of rape dropped by 32.26 percent, robbery by 28.57 percent, and theft by 20.08 percent, acting Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Col. Melecio Buslig, Jr. reported.

The decline in crime incidents was recorded from Oct.1, 2024, to Jan. 8, 2025, Buslig shared in his first 100 days accomplishment report.
 
The QCPD also apprehended 938 wanted persons, dismantled illegal gambling operations, and arrested 1,098 individuals. The QCPD conducted 522 anti-illegal drug operations, leading to the arrest of 820 drug suspects and the seizure of illegal drugs worth P40 million.
 
Also arrested was Noli Bangs Cape, one of the three suspects in the kidnap-slay case perpetrated on January 5, 2025. The police were able to uncover the remains of the victim on Jan. 9 in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

 
“We remain committed to our goal of ensuring the safety of Quezon City residents. Through the combined efforts of our officers, local government units, and the community, we’ve made significant strides in reducing crime,” Buslig said in a statement.
 
The QCPD also received a Crime Clearance Efficiency (CCE) of 98.92 percent, indicating the district’s effective response to crime-solving and investigation efforts.
 
Buslig also said he will prioritize the strengthening of ties between the QCPD and the community. 

He will also focus on enhancing police training, conducting proactive operations, and building community partnerships.
