Police said three counts of murder were filed against Eduardo Taghoy Jr.

A separate charge of frustrated murder was also filed against the suspect as, aside from three fatalities, another man was injured in the attack, said Police Lt. Col. Christian Torres, spokesperson of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

Police suspected that the man was high on illegal drugs when he shot the victims one after another in Barangay Maribago.

The suspect said the devil goaded him to pull the trigger during the incident.

Police arrested the suspect in his home where packs of suspected shabu and .45 caliber pistol were recovered.

Reporters tried to interview the suspect at his detention cell on Tuesday, Jan. 21, but he refused to talk much about the incident.

The suspect, however, sought forgiveness from the victims’ families.
