Maguindanao del Sur mayor offers P150,000 reward for arrest of 2 highway robbers

Mayor Akmad Mitra Ampatuan of Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur on Tuesday dangled a P150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of two men who robbed and killed a delivery van driver in Barangay Timbangan, Shariff Aguak on Monday.

Police Col. Ryan Bobby Paloma, Maguindanao del Sur police chief, identified the victim as Ray Balmores of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.

Investigation said the victim and two companions, Harris Ampatuan of Shariff Aguak and Reymond Bajas of Masbate City, were headed to Cotabato City from Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur after delivering ice cream supplies when the motorcycle-riding suspects appeared and shot Balmores.

The suspects grabbed the bag containing Balmores’ cash collection and fled. Balmores’ companions were wounded and taken to a hospital.

Mayor Ampatuan said he hopes the reward would hasten the investigation of the incident and urged the police to prevent similar incidents within the municipality.
