As the Philippines and China mark the 50th year of its diplomatic relations, Vice President Sara Duterte expressed hope that both countries can work together in addressing the “common challenges” they face.

“Over five decades, our nations have sought to enrich our bilateral relations on the basis of sovereign equality, achieving milestones in various areas of cooperation,” she said in a video message for the Spring Festival.

The Vice President noted that 2025 is “especially meaningful” because the countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
“As we honor this legacy, let us look ahead with hope and determination, working together to address common challenges and foster a harmonious and prosperous future for all,” she added.
Duterte cited that the Chinese Zodiac sign Year of the Wood Snake for 2025 symbolizes “wisdom, resilience, and adaptability.”
“We reflect on the aspiration that unite us and guide us toward a brighter future,” the official said.
She congratulated the Chinese Embassy in Manila and its ambassador, Huang Xilian, the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc., the Federation of Filipino Chinese Association of the Philippines, and the Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. for co-hosting the celebration of the Spring Festival.
